One of the privileges of my blogging life is peeking into the lives of business owners such as Sam Morrison. As if property styling and investment management weren’t enough to keep her busy during school hours, last October Sam set up Violet & Rose, the online jewellery and accessories boutique.
The chunky stone rings, stunning bangles, drop earingsand jewelled friendship bracelets have gone down so well that Sam finds herself replenishing the stock and expanding her list of designers every time something new catches her beady eye.
Personally, I was immediately drawn to the exquisite, roomy hummingbird clutch on the site. Besides adoring the timeless vintage look, I have always been curious about those tropical American birds, the hummingbirds. Recently reading that they are symbols of energy, wonder and swift action, I thought how appropriate it would be as my bag-of-choice for last night’s event at Vertigo42. As Breast Cancer Campaign’s launch of Breast Cancer Action Month, the event heralded the charity’s focus during October – urging us all to ‘take action’. And this bird’s energy and actions perfectly complement the drive of the campaigners and scientists alike.
COMPETITION: And Violet & Rose has taken action too. Sam has very generously given away one of these Miss Budd Empress Hummingbird clutch bags (worth £98) for one of my readers to win. All you have to do is sign up to my blog (top right of homepage), follow me on Twitter and RT the picture of this stunning bag on Thursday 11th October. The lucky winner will be selected randomly on Friday 12th October 2012.
