If you fancy yourself as a glamorous skater, head to Somerset House as their annual ice fixture, from this Thursday (14th November), will be ready to help you glide into this year’s Christmas season.
Small and I headed down yesterday morning to the press event and – despite being a complete novice – he jumped headfirst into some (small) skates and gave it his all!
This spectacular neo-classical building is honestly one of my favourite locations in the heart of London. And yesterday morning, with the clear blue sky and bright winter sun, it looked absolutely stunning.
He started in the Somerset Penguin Club (but only because I MADE him!) but soon begged me to join the better skaters on the main rink. As with his skiing, he has no concept of fear nor accident. Somehow we made it home in one piece – but not before some treats at Tom’s (Aiken) Skate Lounge café and bar, which over looks the ice.
I hear the evening skate sessions have a DJ. I might have to return with the larger Him.
Somerset House, The Strand, London WC2 from £7.50 – £15 (excluding a booking fee)
