I know that a full detox isn’t for me. It’s not that I’m not interested in how one can detox – on the contrary – I’m actually fascinated by the whole process and even obsess about how brilliant it would be to do it. But in reality, I don’t have what it takes: determination, strength of character and a burning desire to be detoxed.
I tried the juice cleanse and both hated and loved it in equal measure. I loathe everything about the 5:2 diet and all who gloat about it. And I know I should drink more water but the constant pee-ing gets on my nerves.
It’s not that I’m SUCH an indulger either. Cheese, ice-cream and good, strong coffee are all within arm’s reach downstairs but I do also consume more than my five-a-day of the good stuff. And… when my foodie friend recently popped in for a green tea, she dropped a top tipple (detox) tip which I did try this weekend while nursing a hangover: handful of mint, an inch of fresh ginger root plus half a cucumber, lime and lemon all simply dropped into a jug of water. Delicious and refreshing – but that was as far as I went.
So imagine my delight when I got a press release telling me all about the new Patch-It called Detox. For those who are as unaware as I was, Patch-It is the original reflexology patch expert. As I read down the release I felt increasing comfortable with this effortless patch detox process: simply place these large plasters on the soles of your feet before bedtime, it explained. The mardarin wood vinegar and mineral crystals in these ‘plasters’ (apparently) stimulate key reflexology points on your feet delivering (wait for it) oxygen to your skin and drawing out those awful toxins. I gave it a go.
Effortless being the key here. If detoxing can be done while I sleep, I’m game.
Detox Patch-It retails at £29.99 for 20 patches (ie 10 day supply)
